From Emergency Relief to a Future We Can Grow

Help Kamuli Community Brass Band take a lasting step toward food security and independence !

Today, the children and community of Kamuli Community Brass Band are facing an urgent challenge — but also a remarkable opportunity to change their future.

For years, we have relied on a small piece of rented land to grow food for the children in our care. At the same time, when harvests or resources have not been sufficient, we have had to turn to friends and supporters for emergency food assistance.

That generosity has helped us through difficult moments, and we are deeply grateful for every person who has stood beside us.

But emergency food assistance can only answer today’s hunger. Our ambition now is to build something that can also answer tomorrow’s needs.

An urgent deadline — and an opportunity for lasting change

Our current agricultural land lease expires on August 25, 2026.

Until now, approximately €5,000 every two years has gone toward renting a small plot of land with limited fertility — land that can never become a permanent asset for the community.

We now have the opportunity to change this:

A two-acre plot of highly fertile agricultural land has become available for approximately €15,000, with the possibility of paying through flexible installments.

For our community, purchasing this land would mean much more than acquiring two acres.

It would mean investing in independence.

It would give us the possibility to grow more of our own food, plan for the future, and gradually reduce our dependence on emergency assistance.

With secure and fertile land, we aim to:

  • Grow nutritious food for the children and reduce our daily food costs.

  • Sell part of the harvest and use the income to help pay school fees and educational expenses.

  • Support the activities of the Kamuli Community Brass Band, giving children a safe environment in which to learn, play music and grow together.

  • Build a sustainable source of income that can strengthen the entire project year after year.

  • Transform humanitarian assistance into long-term resilience and opportunity.

From helping us survive to helping us build

Our supporters have already helped us through many difficult days. Today, we are asking for something different.

We are asking you to help us create a future in which fewer emergency appeals are necessary.

Instead of repeatedly spending scarce resources on rent and short-term solutions, we have the opportunity to invest them in land that can feed children, generate income and remain a community resource for years to come.

This is why the coming days matter so much.

August 25 is approaching quickly.

Every contribution — large or small — can bring us closer to securing this land and beginning a new chapter for the children and families connected to Kamuli Community Brass Band.

And if you are not able to contribute financially, you can still make a real difference.

Please share this appeal with your friends, family, colleagues, organizations and communities. One share may reach the person, foundation, company or organization able to help us take this decisive step.

Help us move from emergency relief to lasting independence.

Help us plant food instead of uncertainty.
Help us cultivate opportunity.
Help us give these children something that can grow with them.

Please donate if you can — and please share our appeal.

With gratitude and hope,

Kamuli Community Brass Band
